Tramontina Ceramic Cookware Reviews

#

Consumers have turned to ceramic cookware as their favourite non-stick items. It is considered to be a healthier option than pans that have been coated with Teflon. If the price is good, then it is the type of cookware to choose.  It is easy to find certain brands at acceptable prices, so if you manage to see Tramontina that is sensibly priced, then it is worth reviewing.

Tramontina 80110/525DS 10-Piece Gourmet Ceramica 01 Deluxe Cookware Set

The 10 piece set comprises:

  • 11 inch skillet
  • Lid for the above
  • 10 inch frying pan
  • 8 inch frying pan
  • 5 Qt sauce pan
  • Lid for the above
  • 3 Qt sauce pan
  • Lid for the above
  • 5 Qt Dutch Oven
  • Lid for the above

The pans are made of cold-forged heavy-gauge aluminium meaning that the heat will be distributed evenly across the surface and food will be cooked evenly. Once cooking is completed the pans are easy to clean and the black metallic porcelain enamel will soon be as good as new. The interior of the pans are cadmium and lead free and as a result the non-stick interior allows food to be cooked quickly and the interior will come up just as clean as the exterior once the food has been served. On top of this, the make-up of the inside is eco-friendly.

The handles are cast stainless steel and ergonomically designed mean they can be moved from place to place plus the lids are shatterproof and heat resistant and as they are glass, you can see what is going on in the pans when cooking. When being used for cooking, or in the dishwasher, they can withstand temperatures of up to 350 degrees F or 176 degrees C.  They are also suitable to use on ceramic glass cooktops, and gas or electric cookers. Made in Italy, they are pans that will last for many years and to show this is not just a wish, they have a lifetime guarantee.

Ceramica 01 Deluxe are part of the gourmet collection from Tramontina and it is clear to see that they have been produced by outstanding craftsman using premium products. Professionals and amateurs alike are able to produce their best meals when using the pans.

PROS:

  • Ease of Use – Pans really are non-stick and everything that is cooked will just slip out onto the plate. Cleaning afterwards is easy and the pans will soon look as good as new.
  • Looks – As well as being effective, they look attractive. It may not be important to some people, but to others, seeing the appearance of the pans enhances the cooking experience. The contrast of the black exterior and white interior is really noticeable.
  • Cooking – There is no need to use high heat, as even with a medium heat, food will cook to perfection and there is no risk of the outside of the pans getting burned.

CONS:

  • Chipping – Some users have found that the ceramic did chip after a few uses. It did tend to be when using metal utensils, so they feel that they are limited to just using silicone ones and for some this meant buying extra equipment.
  • Stains – The ceramic can stain after some time, and while it is possible to clean it to a degree some people want to have the new from the shop look regardless of how old the pans are. If they had expected totally clean pans each time it can be disappointing when this does not happen
  • Burning – Some users have complained that there has been a burning smell and have been unsure about the safety of the pans. Even if there is no visible damage the smell will be off putting and when new pans are bought there should not be anything preventing their use.

It would be wrong to expect there to be no issues at all and in certain quarters the slightest chip will be cause for a major complaint. The complaint about the burning smell is however something to be taken seriously.

The additional care that is needed – mainly the need to use silicone utensils – should not prevent purchase of the set as there are many advantages that should be considered. It is for the individual to decide if they can deal with the issues and if they are worth the problems.
